Conference and workshop on Planetariums. 2012 edition (7th): 20-22 Jun 2012, Parc Astronòmic Montsec. Ager, Lleida. Every 2 years (last meeting was held at Parque de las Ciencias de Granada in May 2010. Attending representatives from most planetariums in Spain and Vendors.

15.      AFFILIATE NEWS (HIGHLIGHTS, PROJECTS, INITIATIVES)

A) Collaborative shows.
We have been incorporating team production of planetarium fulldome shows since the International Year of Astronomy 2009, when we aired  “Evolution”, a production still available not only in Spanish planetariums, but also in some other countries. This has been possible within the frame of the innitiative of the Spanish Ministery of Science promoting the Scientific Culture, the associates have been involved in several collaborative projects.

- “Energy for Life” in 2012
- “Bacteria Mutante” in 2013
- “Deep Space” for 2014


B) Facilities closed
The Planetarium in Mallorca, at the Costitx Observatory, was closed in 2013.

And the Cosmocaixa Alcobendas, science museum near Madrid, also ceased activities at the end of 2013. It will be reopened during 2014 as headquarters for the FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology) and the National Science and Technology Museum (MUNCYT)


C) Information from the centers (as they have provided)

Parc Astronòmic Montsec (PAM).
In 2013 we included the following projections: Dawn of Space Age, Galaktos, El Universo de Escher. And the World Premiere for “Mil millones de soles: camino a las estrellas”, the ESA fulldome show for the GAIA mission.
In 2014, we have the collaboration with Pamplona and Coruña in “Deep Space” fulldome show. We held the 1st  Montsec Workshop for Planetarium Operators and Live-show Designers (June 2014).
A planned refurbishing of the planetarium due end of 2014 / begin of 2015 with new video projectors, maybe including 3D projection.

Cosmocaixa Barcelona.
Planetarium bussiness as usual during 2013 with the fulldome shows and the 3D experience.
In 2014 we'll inlcude new production “To Space and Back” from Sky-Skan in 3D.

Planetario de Madrid.
In 2013 we opened a new show, “Misión al Universo”, produced at home. We have established a collaboration with “la Caixa”, for a new hybrid (digital+optomechanic) system at the dome of the Planetarium for 2015. The Planetarium will be close for the works at the end of 2014.
In 2013, the attendance was a total of 156,038 visitors

Museo de las Ciencias de Castilla-La Mancha, Cuenca.
We keep a special session monthly “El cielo del mes” live, a talk series “Curso Avanzado de Astronomía” in collaboration with AstroCuenca (amateur astronomer association). We have made a digital conversion for our show “Un ratón en la Luna”.
In 2014 we included “Energy for life” and “Dibujos en el cielo”, live sessions and talks, besides following the digitalisation of old analogic shows.

The planetarium, at the Hemisfèric, keeps sharing time and screen with IMAX, and 3d Digital Cinema, with its fulldome Powerdome ® System.

Planetario de Pamplona.
Integrated in a public corporation in charge of cultural, MICE and sports spaces of Navarre, the Planetariums has begun a close collaboration with the Foundation “La Caixa” (Cosmocaixa) and the Foundation of a local bank absorbed by CaixaBank, Fundación Caja Navarra, for the actions on science and astronomy education and popularisation.
Still one of the reference for science and technology outreach in the country and keeping the association for Spanis Planetariums, the activities include the production of fulldome shows, like “Energy for life” or “The girl who walked upside down”, now in the international catalogs of show distributors.
From 2013 on we have developed, together with the Education Authorities and the Public University of Navarre a Center for Educative Robotics (http://robotica.pamplonetario.edu)
